Welcome to Smelly Old Gamer
Sometime back in the "aughts" I launched Smelly Old Gamer as my home page for anything gaming related. My primary purpose was to provide a convenient place for players in my campaigns to find various resources. Long story short, here we go again.
Like a demilich, I've lain dormant. I've gathered power, but also faded physically so now I'm just a particularly vicious skull lying in a heap of dust. Or I'm lying in a catacomb minding my own business until someone comes along and steals my gems. Or whatever. Where's my whiskey and get off my lawn!
No. That's not right. Welcome to my lawn! Like Acererak (third party link), I have some "fun" for you and a lot of fun for me. This time around, I'm focusing on game resources for anyone to use, not just a campaign I'm running. That's partly because right now I'm just focused game-wise on the lame-o bit of being the PC instead of the Game Master and partly because I'm also working on writing more than GMing anyhow. Enough incoherent rambling.
The first set of resources I'm working on are getting my world of Antire a bit more documented and fleshed out. I used the continent of Oenklay, just a large archipelago really, for a D&D 4th edition game. Now I'm fleshing out the world and writing fiction around that. I'm starting by releasing some basic atlas and background about Antire. It's not a typical D&D world in many ways. There are no orcs for one thing and I've made a ton of other adjustments. Like many more modern DMs, I'm removing the inherent racism. I'm also deliberately focusing on more of a 17th-18th century feel. Find out more here.
This site is very much under construction: creating both content and look and feel take a ton of work and I have some writing projects I'm also trying to work on. Oh, and do that full time plus job too. So, please bear with the dust, don't step on any nails, and look out for the icy patch!
