Details
Oirnale1 is dominated by agriculture. The majority of land is in the hands of small landholders who employ the unlanded poor. Outside of Mybourdy, cities and towns tend to be market hubs where cottage industry still dominates manufacturing. Mybourdy, the capital, tends to be what outsiders think of when they think of Oirnale because the most advanced university in all of Oenklay is in the capital of Mybourdy. It’s widely known for its research in to the Other Realm and ancient history of Antire with an obvious focus on ancient Oenklay. The region between Mybourdy and Dessea is beginning to transition from small business focused agrarianism to industrialism thanks to the influence of Einea's trade houses.
The islands to the west are near the end of the world, resulting in the frequent appearance of otherworldly visitors. Nominally claimed by Oirnale, the western islands are lands where powerful other worldly creatures roam. Aardepont, while fertile, is sparsely populated with a few herdsmen living in heavily fortified villages and a few garrisons along the edge of Last Chance Strait to keep that slim lifeline clear for shipping. Pontenfer is a wilderness of heath and moorland with no settlements. The need to fend off the all too often incursions of monstrosities from beyond Antire's borders means that even Oirnale's volunteer militias are the equal of any full time professional force. Pundits in Mybourdy like to opine that Oirnale's professional army and navy could conquer all of Oenklay if they didn't have to spend most of their time protecting Last Chance Strait.
